According to the new agreement, the organizations are expanding the partnership signed in 2020, with Shell becoming the designated strategic partner for lubricants for all Wärtsilä engines.
Shell has a long history of developing high-quality lubricants that meet leading global OEM engine requirements and is a long-standing supplier of motor oils for Wärtsilä. Maintaining its status as a leading global supplier of finished lubricants for the 16th consecutive year, according to the 20th edition of Kline & Company’s "Global Lubricants: Market Analysis and Assessment 2021," Shell has a good opportunity to complement Wärtsilä's technological leadership.
Many of Shell's lubricants for large engines are tested on Wärtsilä engines at Shell's technology center in Hamburg and rigorously evaluated at Wärtsilä installations in the field. In addition to those used during engine testing procedures, Shell also supplies other products that are part of the factory production process, including hydraulic and transmission oils. For example, Shell’s Mysella, Argina, and Gadinia motor oil series have been developed to provide high engine cleanliness, improved wear protection, extended oil life, and high system efficiency.
